The Callao Caves Tourist Zone at Peņablanca, Province of Cagayan offers world-class caving adventures. Even the most experienced cavers would be awed by the unspoiled beauty of the limestone formations that are "hidden in the dark" subterranean natural structure. A unique adventure in the subterranean world. See spectacular rock formations or speleothems-- stalactites and stalagmites: flowstones and glittering dripstones cave curtains: crystal helictites: columns, etc. Crawl, climb, dive or simply admire what is hidden in the dark. Top this with relaxing swim at Mororan while awaiting the spectacle of the circadian flight of bats.

More than 300 cave systems await the cavers and other outdoorsmen in the more than 4,000 hectares area of Callao Caves Tourist Zone.

Mountaineering, river trekking and kayaking are added activities in this portion of the Northern Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges.

To get here, take any of the air-conditioned buses plying the Manila-Aparri and Manila-Tuguegarao routes 24 hours a day. From Tuguegarao City, the Callao Caves Tourist Zone is 24 kilometers of good road serviced by jeepneys and tricycles. Airlines are also available.

The best time to visit Cagayan is from March to June after the rainy season, and the part of hot summer. However, to the enthusiast, caving is a yearround adventure.

Arrive Tuguegarao City at 7:30 a.m.. Have breakfast at a local pansiteria, leave for Callao Caves Resort, drop-by the Provincial Museum and Historical Research Center, then proceed to the resort; billeting and orientation, then explore the caves (Callao, Roc and Sierra Caves) and go boating/trekking while awaiting the circadian flight of bats at dusk, then back to Tuguegarao City at 7:30 p.m.

2 Days, 1 Night Caving Adventure
Cost: Php850.00/participants for 5 participants

Day 1
Arrive Tuguegarao City at 7:30 a.m.. Have breakfast at a local pansiteria, leave for Callao Caves Resort, drop-by the Provincial Museum and Historical Research Center, then proceed to the resort; billeting and orientation, then explore the caves (Callao, Roc and Sierra Caves) and go boating/trekking while awaiting the circadian flight of bats at dusk, eco-walk after dusk, overnight at resort.

Day 2
After breakfast, explore more caves; to San Carlos Cave (a whole day caving adventure) with pack lunch, go swimming with a barbecue party, back to Tuguegarao City.

Day 1

Day 2
After breakfast, explore more caves; to San Carlos Cave (a whole day caving adventure) with pack lunch, go swimming with a barbecue party, overnight at the resort.

Day 3
After breakfast, go river-trekking, start at Akkar-gan up to Tungi with pack lunch, visit "Atta" settlement at Baggabba; back to Tuguegarao City, visit the St. Peter's Cathedral, San Jacinto Chapel; go souvenir hunting/shopping, leave for Manila.
Note: All tours start and end in Tuguegarao City.
