About this Web site

  The Web Pages

The web pages of this site are designed mostly with CSS and DHTML codes and JavaScripts (version 1.1 or higher) and are best browsed and viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x (version 5.01 or 5.5 recommended). Also optimized with Netscape Navigator 4.x (version 4.72 or higher recommended) but it cannot interpret some of the site's CSS and DHTML features, some table properties and JavaScript functions (specifically the pulldown menus). Also tested on Opera 3.60 and 4.0 browser (with the the Java plugin properly installed/configured) but it cannot handle some of the DHTML scripts of the pages. Check if you have the right browser.

The pages are designed to be viewed in 16/24 bit or higher, 640x480/800x600 or higher, screen resolutions. See if you have the right monitor settings.

Fonts used are Verdana, Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica and Courier New.

The HTML documents are created in raw code (no FrontPage, Frontpage Express, Adobe GoLive/PageMill, Macromedia Dreamweaver, HomeSite, HotMetal, or HotDog used), encoded manually through Windows NotePad/WordPad, NoteTab, and Pico (Linux). The graphics and pictures are created and manipulated with Adobe Photoshop, LviewPro, Paint Shop Pro, and Macromedia Fireworks (shareware/evaluation versions) and GIMP.

This Web site is full of graphic images and pictures but most of the images are compressed (most not higher than 10 to 15 kilobytes) for faster loading of pages. And most important, the large images and photographs are "sliced" to bits to subdivide the actual size (and to discourage "stealing" of pictures :-)) and are preloaded. The pages are tested to load on a 28.8 kbps modem connection and most of the pages load in a few seconds, the slowest pages loading at more or less than a minute.
