Cagayan procures
P10.3M worth
heavy equipment

Cagayanos can look forward to better roads with the new arrival of some 5 units of various road-building equipment worth 10.3 million pesos procured by the provincial government from the Peoples Republic of China.

The equipment units are composed of 2 road rollers, 2 graders and 1 transit mixer funded under the 20% Development Fund and the General Fund.

"With the acquisition of the 5 units of heavy equipment, the provincial government now has
a total of 67 equipment units of different types. This will mean a speedy and efficient delivery of services to the people," Governor Florencio L. Vargas said.

Vargas said the procured heavy equipment units were designed to provide an efficient provincial equipment pool capable of maintaining daily services including, Saturdays and Sundays and other holidays as the need arises.

Based on records at the Provincial Engineer´s Office, the provincial government in spite of the limited operating equipment, has been pursuing road maintenance and repair activities, reclaimed roads and opened new roads to farm areas.

"With the additional equipment, provincial and even municipal and barangay roads would be regularly maintained and eventually more people may be able to bring their agricultural products to the public market, thus spurring economic livelihood," Vargas said.

The governor also said better roads in the province would enable children from the barangays to go to school safely while emergency medical cases can be rushed to the nearest hospital with greater ease.
